History of PUKY
PUKY is a very famous German brand and it is known through out Europe as the market leading manufacturer of quality childrens' vehicles. Founded in 1949 PUCK as the company was then known began by manufacturing scooters in Dusseldorf, Germany. In 1956 the name PUKY was created. In 1960 the company moved to its present site in Wuelfrath, a small town in Germany near to Cologne. Over the years the range of products designed and manufactured by PUKY increased to include tricycles, bicycles and go karts. The most recent additions to the range in 2006 are the very popular Learner Bikes and the Woosh.PUKY employs 100 staff, 15 of whom are employed in the techincal department designing new products and enhancing existing ones. PUKY also provides work for approximately 450 handicaped persons who work off site. PUKY produces approximately 370,000 vehicles a year and continues to grow at a good rate. Most PUKYs are sold in Germany with 20% of its production exported to forty other countries including The Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, Japan and Great Britain.
The PUKY Range
PUKY products are created with children in mind. Vehicles are designed to fit children and are not just scaled down versions of adult products. For example the brake levers are child sized with lighter weight springs so that your child can easily control braking and feel confident whilst managing his or her PUKY bicycle. All vehicles are designed to have a low centre of gravity which make them easier for children to control and feel secure whilst riding.
Each PUKY vehicle is carefully built using best quality materials from the raw tubing to the powder coated paint. PUKY builds substantial yet light weight vehicles which will last for many years. In fact you will be able to get spares and replacement parts for at least ten years for each vehicle you buy.
PUKY products are offically designed for children from the age of eighteen months or 80cm. Alexandra started on her Woosh at the age of fourteen months so it will really depend on the individual development of your child as to when you can introduce them to their first PUKY.
